Liam Coyne is the Social Democrats’ candidate for Dublin South Central. A recent law-graduate, he has three young children.

Liam has become increasingly concerned with the direction Irish society has taken under successive Governments.Frustrated with the lack of ambition and vision of the old parties, he believes the Social Democrats will offer people the opportunity to vote for a fresh open Government that is vital to a strong democracy, a fair society and a vibrant economy. He joined the Social Democrats because he believes they have the vision and capacity to address the deep political and cultural reform that is urgently needed if we are to reach our potential as a country.

An energetic and driven businessman, Liam has successfully negotiated the economic turmoil of recent years. As an employer, he is keenly aware of the importance of good employment not just to workers’ living standards but also to their dignity and he works hard to protect their interests.

Liam brings the same energy and drive to his leisure pursuits. Despite being a relative novice to sailing, he fought off more established and experienced competition to become the current Round Britain and Ireland champion in his class. The tenacity, courage and perseverance he displayed in doing so are qualities he would apply to his role as representative of the people of Dublin South Central and he looks forward to having the opportunity of doing so.
