Social Democrats Announce Dublin South-Central Candidate

The Social Democrats have today unveiled their latest recruit for the upcoming General Election.  Liam Coyne, a business man who is also the current round Britain & Ireland sailing champion, has been declared to contest the constituency of Dublin South Central where he lives and operates one of his businesses from.  Liam is also a recent law graduate and a married father of three.

Speaking ahead of his launch, Mr Coyne said:

“As a business owner throughout the downturn I have had to work hard to maintain my business despite the economic turmoil and in doing so continued to provide quality employment for my staff. I am passionate about the importance of good employment and its impact on workers’ dignity as well as their living standards”

“I have become increasingly concerned with the direction Irish society has taken under successive Governments and have grown frustrated with the lack of ambition and vision on offer from the established parties. I joined the Social Democrats because I believe in the vision they are offering for an Ireland with a strong democracy, a fair society and a vibrant economy. I also believe that the people involved have the capacity to deliver on that vision and I am delighted to be part of this team.”

Catherine Murphy, co-leader of the Social Democrats noted:

“We are delighted to welcome Liam into the team. The passion, commitment and determination he has shown in his business, educational, sporting and personal pursuits are qualities that will ensure he would make an excellent public representative for the people of Dublin South-Central and we look forward to Liam shaking things up in that vibrant and diverse constituency.”
