Liam condemns violent murder at 2.30pm at the Regency Hotel on the Swords Road during a weigh-in for a now-cancelled WBO European Lightweight title fight.
Today we have seen yet another life taken and others injured in a most violent and evil way.
I and the Social Democrats want to condemn in the strongest possible way what occurred at the Hotel.
It was senseless, murderous and vile. Such actions have no place in any decent society let alone ours.
There can be no excuse for this and the other terrible murders that Dublin has witnessed over the years.
It is being reported that one man has been shot dead while two others were seriously injured in the shooting.
The killers are believed to have been wearing Garda uniforms and brandished AK 47s.
This in itself is highly disturbing.
I am sure all decent people will join with me in condemning these senseless actions.
These gangs are a plague on our society and a dreadful influence on those they recruit to their evil ways.
While I echo calls for more Gardai and a better funded and equipped police force what we also need are proper facilities and better training for our young people so they wont be enticed to work for and get involved with these criminal gangs.
We dont need any more families destroyed.
